An unnamed Air Algerie company source, speaking to AFP news agency, said: "The plane was not far from the Algerian frontier when the crew was asked to make a detour because of poor visibility and to prevent the risk of collision with another aircraft on the Algiers-Bamako route."

Sounds like there could be another missing plane.

There were 138 plane crashes last year, 12 involving commercial flights. 7 so far this year.

They only tend to get reported when there's a big one that temporarily makes plane crashes newsworthy.

Not if they go into orbit or disappear into outer space.
What goes up must come down is not necessarily the case.
There was a report of a German WW2 Bomber being spotted on the Moon a few years back.
Must admit to being a bit sceptical on that one though.
