For a moment there I thought you were planning on doing the ride.....was looking for specialist bike builders for the er....larger rider
no chance . my dad has a mate up there who is doing this bike race.. he is stopping at stanhope, then finishing the following day

 Rocky's bringing the van/mini bus Man. On that topic; Who is starting from Sunderland and who is meeting us at Whitehaven or similar?
I'll be driving up to the promised land on the Friday. Will probably leave Greenwich at about 6 so I get some of the afternoon with my folks. Is it meet at the sol?

Anyone needs a lift from anywhere on the a1 Friday I have a big car.

Everyone know's where the SOL is so that's probably the easiest. Still need to work out bike transport was talking to Rocky today and there is an option to take some seats out of the bus, depending on numbers. He's also a bit worried about losing Mal, we're going to have to look after ourselves unless we can find another mechanic. Next options are, Hire a van, put a roof rack, and back rack on my pick up, that could get me to 10 bikes, or a trailer on the car.

I am meeting you on the Friday evening at the hotel in Whitehaven. In fact just got my train ticket and bike space this afternoon.

I thought you said you were. I think everyone else is going on the bus apart from Flav who has foregone all kinds of transportation that he can't pedal.

I'm not 100% sure about the Friday bus from Sunderland...it all depends on our beloved football team and whether I am forced to head up to the WBA game on the Tuesday (??) to watch our miraculous relegation escape take its next steps. If so then I may dump the car up in the North East, head back down to Manc on the train, and then get the train to Whitehaven on the Friday night and meet you's all there .

No worries. Are you thin king of leaving the bike somewhere for us to bring over? It shouldn't be a problem.

Nah - will head up to Whitehave with bike (on train by the way !!!!!)

May have to travel v.light though - so may be in lycra in the Italian :) only kidding like

I'm coming from Gateshead, so SOL is ok for me. It's no bother for me to pop over on the train if it makes things easier. I look after my own bikes, so I could bring my toolkit, track pump to cover any breakdowns etc.

Juts put the finishing touches to my bike rebuild - cannot wait to get out on it this weekend to test it all out

New wheels plus SRAM Force 22 groupset (with that Yaw front mech thingy). Not managed to get it under the 7kg mark though

Was probably cheaper buying a new bike :)

I am not kidding - and nee white text. I need to cycle from my office to Euston to catch the train. So I can only bring up to Whitehaven what I can carry in a bag on my back while cycling in central London. There will be considerable overlap between my Friday night attire in the Italian and my gear on the saturday. If the winds are the prevailing ones, most of you are going to be downwind of me on the ride so I apologise for any unpleasantness in advance.

My black DHB long bib things came yesterday, so expect sunny weather. Mrs Mano was horrified when I modeled them
Looking like another busy weekend with little opportunity for cycling, unless it rains.
Did take my hard tail to work and had the pleasure of passing a full lycra clad superstar on a fancy skinny tyred hybrid on the old girl, whilst wearing jeans and trainers :lol: I don't think he was amused.
Been using the hard tail for fleet support a bit too.

I had role reversal over winter a few times...on long base rides and trying to keep hr really low I was passed by a few people on all sorts of bike, some of them women.

And there's nee chance of sunny weather I'm guessing..just as long as not easterly wind !!

Don't spoil my fun :( Don't think this bloke was trying anything special, he was doing his level best to stay in front, I trailed him for a while and picked my moment as I don't like to pass someone for them to re overtake me.

Right then, change of plan, I'm driving up next week so I can go to the Baggies game as well, so I suppose I'm in (though I've done no cycling recently, just lazing around!) ... how do we get across?
