Could the Labour Party be a spent force?

Labour were a spent force once that absolute wanker Blair took over. At least with Kinnock you could see traditional policies that actually made a bit of sense.

I understand where you're coming from and have lived that life but it isn't coming back until life/inequality becomes extreme. Too many people apathetic to what is going on in the world to give a shit about anything other than themselves and as long as they can afford a few cans and a sausage roll for the bairn they don't give a shite, really. There is very little heritage left in modern society.

Until Greggs is unaffordable there's nee chance a Kinnock will get any power, sadly.

We know Labour is broken. That doesn't mean socialism is broken.
A broken Labour Party is still a better bet than the bloated, decaying cadaver that is the Westminster Tory Party. :)

But it is. Any hope of socialism in Britain was ended through "new Labour". When Labour all but accepted Thatcher's economic policies, as the alternative was electoral oblivion.

The country massively rejected socialism in 4 elections off the belt. The Labour party was hardly a thriving force when Blair mover then towards the center. Like it or lump on Thatcher killed true socialism off in the 80's and made it a me me me country

They are all spent forces. Bunch of career politicians with no desire other than to get power however they can. We need politicians who actually want to make a difference, even if we disagree with them. Hate party politics me.

Agree, but sadly never gonna happen. Even worse here in OZ, but the sun shines and there's beer in the fridge so fooookem.

As inequalities grow and the chasm between the haves and have-nots becomes ever wider, a growing groundswell of public opinion will become ever more vocal. There is a significant underclass who are as yet disenfranchised. They've given up on politics. That will not continue indefinitely. We live in a democracy. To say that socialism is dead is to suggest injustice is dead. Time, my dear boy. Time. :)

You very much implied it by mentioned how dull you think he is rather than talking about the speech and the contents

Dont panic X factor Nigel will have you thrapping soon enough
 No implication at all mate he is dull, if it makes you feel better the content was shite as well same old Labour tax and spend nothing new no vision whatsoever.

Nee good Nemo. Makes no difference what he says as his delivery as a 'bit funny'

The same bellends nee doubt slagged of Blair for being to polished

Ive always said Blair was a great Politician. Didnt like him but great Politician.

For those at work. Votes at 16. Too London centric so committed to decentralisation. Mansion tax. Close tax loopholes. More power to civic bodies and regions. More midwives, nurses and GP's. House building to be ramped up. Vague on some things, "equality" for the self employed. Not sure what that was about.

I look forward to the utopia of UKIP with there low taxes and massive investment in public services:lol::lol:

'What do you want to hear, is it low taxes? Yes we will be the party of low tax. Excuse me, you also want good public services? Oh yes we will offer that to'

Id want to hear a vision mate not some soulless rubbish ive just heard. Each to their own though you want more tax, more spending which means more borrowing thats entirely up to you.

Whoa, whoa there mate, its all about balance. No one is wanting borrow, borrow, borrow. I just want good consistent investment in public services no matter how is in power. The Tories neglected them that much from 79-97 that huge investment was needed just to get them up to scratch. Things like that shouldnt happen again.

Will be interested to hear about this 'vision' you mention. Its just seem a bit of a buzz word that doesn't really equate to out really.

I agree to an extent the problem and its always a problem that both Labour and Tory go too far one way or the other we never gt a balance.
There is no long term plan and that does equate to vision. I want to hear from a leader what is going to happen down the line not just tinkering with bits round the edges.
Miliband just seems so stuck on bits and pieces. The one thing you could say about Blair and Thatcher was they had a vision you may not like it but you knew where were headed.
Miliband and Cameron just dont have it IMO of course.

We plan to reduce foreign aid spending by 90%

this will save up to £45 billion over the course of a parliament.

I like his idea for supporting apprenticeships and the introduction of a link to schooling.

you mean the idea UKIP came up with first?
