Is suddenly looking a better Manager. Last year as Everton become more progressive under Martinez and ManU got worse under Moyes he became a bit of a figure of fun.

Now Martinez Everton continue to ship goals like they are going out of fashion. Man U look as bad - with the exception of a £150m worth of jewels - a few thoughts emerge? Martinez inherited a strong and improving squad from Moyes and Moyes a rapidly deteriorating squad from Fergie.

People were so quick to write off a manager who showed steady and consistent progress for 10 years

Steady and consistent yes , progress ? Thats debatable , he got em to around 6th and thats about as far as he could take everton.

You can't blame him for taking the job, but whoever replaced Ferguson was on a hiding to nothing with that squad.

He did a very good job at Everton in the league, but his cup record left a lot to be desired. Moyes will be back in work soon enough though. The rate that Spurs are going through managers he'll probably be in charge by January.

Didn't you know, he's Pardew's replacement.

Very good manager but probably a big too pragmatic for a title chasing team . I can see why Utd baulked at giving him a blank cheque book to go overhaul the team . Funny how it has turned out - they gave the job to Van Gaal along with the blank cheque book and he goes at it like a sailor on shore leave . To me Utd still need to spend big to get the balance right in that team - what that figure is now is anyone's guess bearing in mind a) they absolutely HAVE to finish top 4 now (no backing out) b) they will be spending in January and selling teams will be unmerciful - some Moyes pragmatism was needed .

Moyes musdt be laughing his back off now, given the dirr state of Man Utd under Van Gaal.

depends doesn't it ? If LVG gets 4th he'll be the hero . At least Moyes had Vidic and Rio last year . Seems to me that whoever's doing the long term planning at United to churn out a steady stream of premiership quality starters has been found out

Given the egos of Moyes and in particular Van Gaal, I think it is reasonable to assume that THEY wud be the ones calling the shots on all trasnsfer aquisitions.

Man utd had just won a title, a trained ape could have gotten them into the top 4.
