It's a derogatory slang term for someone associated with Auburn University, which is the logo in skyyo's avatar. It's how "Auburner" sounds in an Alabama accent. For example, an Alabama fan might say "Awdemdam Barners c'mupere t'Tuscloosa'n tekar wimin." Try to pronounce the whole sentence as if it's about three words and you'll possibly approach true 'Bama inscrutability of speech.

Have to admit, being on the other side of the continent, I had no clue. Paul Finebaum country is a world unto itself.

They have Alabama fan and tree problems at Auburn too.

An Alabama fan poisoned/killed one of their historic oak trees on campus and was sentenced 3 years in the clink for it.

It would seem there are tree perblerms everywhere.

He said he already was.

On a side note...

He was benched by Klinsmann, his starting spot removed and he was sent back to Toronto during the US team's atrocious Gold Cup tournament a little over a month ago.

Once back at Toronto, he has put together a string of games now where his performance has been bad enough that the Toronto coach called him out publicly in the press...

He's still shot to bits evidently and now struggling in the MLS... a league he ran ragged when he was 17... dark times on planet jozy....

To be fair, not struggling quite so much now, three goals in the last two games, which drew positive comments from Klinsi.

But you're right, he put together six weeks where it appeared he believed he was back at Sunderland.

Hmm, I dont know many Americans that would ever finish a sentence with 'mind'. I know a few mags that would, mind.

Shit, I've outed myself.

Depends on how long we've spent on here.

I said he was done last year. I also said he wouldn't be the USMNT starting striker come next WC and may not even make the squad. Turns out he was average at best, certainly wasn't good enough for the PL and his time at Sunderland pretty much destroyed whatever confidence he did have.

Johannsson, Bobby Wood, Jordan Morris and Terrence Boyd all have some talent and could emerge. Who knows though.... Klinnsman is an ego-maniacal asshat, who knows what he'll do.

Who was the fookin first one?

"Great" is subjective but Brad Friedel was pretty damn good for sure (PL record for most consecutive appearances with 310). Tim Howard. One of my personal favorites, Brian McBride, represented us quite well. And Brad Guzan is also pretty damn good and getting better IMO.

Yedlin has a good upside. Hopefully he can really blossom with some playing time at Sunderland.
