Im hoping UEFA vote no.

Sepp gets a majority with all the corrupt nations voting him in and the proper (uncorrupt;)) nations voting him out.

UEFA decide enuffs enuff and they sod off alongside the USA, Canada, Australia, NZ, Japan, China, Brazil, etc etc etc to form the WFA (or summit).

WFA seek sponsorship from FIFAs sponsors rivals IE Pepsi-Coca Cola, MAstercard-Visa, Adidas-Nike etc etc.

WFA sets up its own WFA Cup held in Europe every four years. Not in a single country but across the entire continent.

’s Updated Statement on FIFA

May 27, 2015

Our disappointment and concern with FIFA in light of today’s developments is profound. As a sponsor, we expect FIFA to take swift and immediate steps to address these issues within its organization. This starts with rebuilding a culture with strong ethical practices in order to restore the reputation of the games for fans everywhere.

Visa became a sponsor of FIFA because the World Cup is one of the few truly global sporting events with the power to unite people from around the world through a common love of football. Our sponsorship has always focused on supporting the teams, enabling a great fan experience, and inspiring communities to come together and celebrate the spirit of competition and personal achievement – and it is important that FIFA makes changes now, so that the focus remain on these going forward. Should FIFA fail to do so, we have informed them that we will reassess our sponsorship.

I think ISIS are putting in a bid for 2026 so Zimbabwe will have stiff competition.

PS, By then (unless we wake up and do something) ISIS will be hosting games in Istanbul and Bucharest.
Heard the biggest threat to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria bid is Assad's Syria. Depending on whether his regime can stump up enough cash for FIFA to recognise it as a legitimate sovereign nation.

“The indictment alleges corruption that is rampant, systemic, and deep-rooted both abroad and here in the United States,” said Attorney General Lynch. “It spans at least two generations of soccer officials who, as alleged, have abused their positions of trust to acquire millions of dollars in bribes and kickbacks. And it has profoundly harmed a multitude of victims, from the youth leagues and developing countries that should benefit from the revenue generated by the commercial rights these organizations hold, to the fans at home and throughout the world whose support for the game makes those rights valuable. Today’s action makes clear that this Department of Justice intends to end any such corrupt practices, to root out misconduct, and to bring wrongdoers to justice – and we look forward to continuing to work with other countries in this effort.”

“Today’s announcement should send a message that enough is enough,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Currie. “After decades of what the indictment alleges to be brazen corruption, organized international soccer needs a new start – a new chance for its governing institutions to provide honest oversight and support of a sport that is beloved across the world, increasingly so here in the United States. Let me be clear: this indictment is not the final chapter in our investigation.”

“As charged in the indictment, the defendants fostered a culture of corruption and greed that created an uneven playing field for the biggest sport in the world,” said Director Comey. “Undisclosed and illegal payments, kickbacks, and bribes became a way of doing business at FIFA. I want to commend the investigators and prosecutors around the world who have pursued this case so diligently, for so many years.”

“When leaders in an organization resort to cheating the very members that they are supposed to represent, they must be held accountable,” said Chief Weber. “Corruption, tax evasion and money laundering are certainly not the cornerstones of any successful business. Whether you call it soccer or football, the fans, players and sponsors around the world who love this game should not have to worry about officials corrupting their sport. This case isn't about soccer, it is about fairness and following the law. IRS-CI will continue to investigate financial crimes and follow the money wherever it may lead around the world, leveling the playing field for those who obey the law.”

Strong stuff that mind.

We can start looking forward to the World Series of Soccer

This is not strong enough. They should pull out now. How much evidence of corruption do they need?

Still a commercial decision in terms of marketing. The World Cup reaches more audience than probably any other event on the planet. It's valuable and there's no signs yet that the WC will simply cease to exist.

It was tongue in cheek. However, the yanks are anything but altruistic and whenever they get involved in something, I can't help thinking "What's in it for them?"
I know, you're right. But I think they just enjoy policing the world. Plus, you don't piss off the IRS and walk away...

This is the same Visa who were more than happy to go along with FIFA accepting only Visa payments for purchasing tickets for the tournaments? I would expect nothing other than a guarded statement from them.

Agreed, yet their statement is actually the strongest. With Blatter hiding again today, you've got to hope it's all going to come crashing down around him in days now
