Ive been lucky to travel quite a lot by bullet train over the years. Surely the best ever way to travel. Cold asahi and a sock of eggs! Happy days!

Imagine if Newcastle / Sunderland could be linked to Leeds and Edinburgh in such times? It'd open a whole new market place for the people of our area and would invite investment into the cities themselves. Alas HS2 is yet more London centric policy

i think that was what the article was pointing out with regards the bullet trains... it made once individual towns & cities into suburbs & dormitory towns of tokyo... their model would suggest a bullet train to the north east would result in jobs and further investment moving south.

our railways can't get me from Greenwich to London bridge reliably man. can you imagine the chaos we'd have with a high speed line running to Edinburgh running to time?!??!
