New Manager: Enlist Help Of SAF?

He's helped us in the past with loans and suggestions for players, but I doubt he'd want to be linked to the club in a public role. Media would have a field day.

What's to say a great manager can make great managerial appointments. It's sort of the same as expecting a great player to make a great scout. Ferguson's track record is one very questionable managerial appointment who will lead the league champions to about 5th place, without looking like winning a trophy.

Excuse me but

Congerton or SAF advising you. You're a funny lad. ;)

What was the point of your post? If Gus walks Congerton will advise on who the new manager will be, that's his job. It's a bit like saying wouldn't it be great signing Messi. BTW SAF advised Man Utd to get Moyes. So really, on every conceivable level your thread is a complete waste of time - so why am I bothering replying you may ask.

Good idea if Gus goes in whatever manner?

It is the opportunity of going to the best in the business and getting his advice.

He has no vested interest and would be totally impartial. We've tried everything else.

Any pitfalls to this suggestion?
