Our last good permanent signing?

Soon after I started going to games full time we brought in George Herd, George Mulhall, John Crossan, and then Brian Clough. All good players and good signings who could be relied on to put in a shift in most games and were "better than what we have got". Without my realizing it at the time this was a purple passage in the context of this thread. Of these Cloughy was the most frustrating but despite doing nowt all game he would still pop a cheap one in, unlike Fletcher.
