We got unlucky, really unlucky. That season there was confusion over the next TV deal as it was due the next season or so and everyone shit theirselves thinking it was gonna be a big drop in revenue and it never happened. As a result transfer prices plummeted and we were left trying to sell decent players on decent wages who hadn't had very good seasons. What we had to take for Phillips was criminal, but only Southampton and Boro were in for him. Boro thought they could get him for £1.5m because they'd match his wages.

Not true when we went down on 15 points. We managed to get nearly all our money back on Gray, Davis, sold Kyle for a decent fee - had no choice with Arca as it was in his contract and he'd not have signed it without it, got a reasonable fee for McCartney when he was out of contract next season and had spent virtually the whole season injured.

Fair play to them for holding out for top money got to say we are very poor when it comes to getting a decent fee for players we are getting rid of probably cause all ours are normally crap
