Star of Siam at Rainton is always a good one for Thai, tucked away doesn't look the best but had one of the best rendangs ever in there.

Crinnions in lanchester.
Big massive northern portions, good quality anarl.
There's a pizza (deanos iirc) place and a Greek (yannis) place near by which do great happy hour deals, something like 4.99 for 3 courses.

Lanchester has a canny amount of pubs/ places to eat for the size of it .

Haven't been for a while 'cos I found it a bit up and down but a few of my friends have been raving about it lately. Will have to give it another try.

Funny enough (yeahs all know I'm a food snob) there's a Tex Mex place in Aycliffe in the bowling alley and its really good.
