Blackfriars in Newcastle is brilliant.
Finbarrs in Durham.
Cinammon Lounge (formerly the bird in hand) is good if you fancy a dirty Indian meal. The last one I had there was excellent and I've eaten quite a few in my time.
I went to blackfriars and was brilliant!

Dont want anywhere in sunderland first of all.

Want to try somewhere new, places ive already been.....

Stables

mamas italian farmhouse
stackyard

Seaham hall

Im looking for those kind of places above and no franchises etc

See a place called shadforth plough or something advertised, looks canny
Vadah in stockton. Went last night, unreal. If you like Indian food that is.

This place always used to be decent and is a nice place to stay as well (as long as you don't allow them to put you in an attic room - strictly first floor only!), although it's a few years since I was last there.

They have a main restaurant located in the hotel building and also serve bar meals at their pub which is situated about 100 yards from the main building (still within the grounds, which are extensive).

I got yorkshire pigeon for starter and then partridge for main. Had a chech beer which was one of best ive ever tasted!
They must have changed the menu again cos I can't remember seeing that or I would have probably gone for at least oneof those dishes . I had partridge at a wedding in Spain and it was beautiful.
