Errr yes mate, Thriller by Micky J is the biggest selling album still to this day. Never be a better album than that marrowThe thread about Queen led me to you tube and you dont stumble very far before the The Beatles emerge.
Clearly the songs they wrote defined them. Shea Stadium defined them and set the scene for the mass open air concerts/gigs that we know today.
However to basically define a whole decade in human history, the 1960's, takes some doing.
Widely regarded as the most influential musical act in history what do we make of them now 45 years after they basically ended their recording together?
Has Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band ever been eclipsed?
Can songs like this be bettered?
Imo McCartney was the genius behind them. The rest of them were just average musicians. Lennon is revered because he's dead, simple as that.
Game of thrones is canny I supposeGeorge martin was the genius, Paul McCartney wrote yellow submarine and the f***ing frog chorus.
Light and shade. McCartney was the popster and Lennon provided the bite. Complimentary to each other. Harrison was hardlys an average musician.Imo McCartney was the genius behind them. The rest of them were just average musicians. Lennon is revered because he's dead, simple as that.

The baby of the band and didn't manage to get out from the shadow of the other two until later. His single Got My Mind Set On You was written with the Beatles but it was considered to kitch even for McCartney at the time and so was shelved.Harrison was the one where few people could remember his name.

Folk who dismiss The Beatles have to remember that before them, that fella was about as dangerous as music got in the early 60s. He was this county's rock and roll star.
Never read any extensive threads on a flight attendants forum to the contrary. Were they nice to flight attendants like????
Co-wrote it with ClaptonI think Harrison wrote Badge, performed by the Cream as he was friends with Clapton.
Some very Beatlesque chimes in the middle of the song.
I reckon Revolver just edges it, like. The Beatles surpassed Sgt Peppers the previous summer with Revolver (and possibly even surpassed that the year before with Rubber Sole - not sure which is the greater album)
Sgt Peppers was probably the defining record of the era though.
Great story about them coming back from getting the first press of the record done sitting in McCartneys ( ? ) flat in London with the windows open and playing the album at full blast to the world at 6 in the morning.
