Midfield
7 Days previously we were hammered 8-0 and it is so damaging to confidence that we could go an a rapid downward spiral.

Gus did the right thing the way he set us up, as his only concern was that we were not on the end of another thrashing to cause more mental damage.

If you look at the game objectively a lot of the team actually played well. PVA and Vergini actually played very well and the others apart from Brown and Vito had pretty decent games with Johnson being the usual enigma struggling to get into the game.

On actual chances "created" or goalmouth action we matched Arsenal and they did not look that threatening.

Brown and Vito need to be dropped and Altidore is quite simply a joke of a footballer and should never ever pull on a Sunderland shirt again , but as far as the "bulk" of the team is concerned I think people are blinded by the schoolboy errors and are not looking at the individual performances in a true light.
