Look at the budget surplus deficit figures from 1975 to the crash.....Tories in power most of the time and ran deficits every year barring two when they managed small surpluses of 3.9 and 4.2 billion in the boom periods 88/89.........Labour took over in 1997 and immediately ran surpluses of 0.7 billion, 12 billion. 16 billion and 8 billion.....Even when they went back into deficit, at no point were there deficits as large as the tories in the 90s until the 2008 crash which Greedy has helped us establish nobody saw coming......The figures are quite clear, Labour (who i detest btw) were massively more succesful at managing the economy than the tories......Dont forget this was also a time when they brought in a minimum wage which the tories claimed would bankrupt the country, winter fuel payments which the tories would claim we could not afford etc etc.

And the relevance to 30 years ago is.....next wèek nazi Germany when adolf seized power and that ended well.

Words fail me. .the blinkers and the defence are amazing.....

Where did i say western in what was a global recession. ..the point was you will struggle to find countries who inherited what a bloke who pledged an end to boom and bust did and by christ he followed his pledge through.
So it's global when you want it to be and local to Labour when you don't? Okay as long as we know the ground rules.

So go on then, amuse us and let us know, honestly, which countries you were referring to.

New labour were at the helm during a global economic windfall ( credit gorge) the like if which the world had never seen. Factor that in fuck head

If that were true you'd have done it a while back

Brilliant, so Labour were just lucky after 18 years of Tory mismanagement. The tories finally had it all sussed after 18 years of boom and bust only for labour to benefit? You couldnt actually make this up. Are you really this stupid or is this some sort of social experiment?:eek::oops::lol:

The relevance is that the tories mismanaged the economy for 18 years and then claim to have finally got it sussed and that labour were handed a booming economy. A booming economy the tories had not managed to achieve themselves in 18 years in charge. Were the booms of the 80s and 90s not pretty big? Why did the tories still run deficits during these booms?

The fact you wont criticise a bloke who inherited so much on the back of an end to boom and bust speaks volumes about the blinkers. .enjoy miiliberk and balls your inbred habits clearly dictates you have to..

Cameron aint good but hes miles ahead of these clowns..

Nice avoidance, now fancy a go at answering the question, or do you need a little longer to Google?

after the deep recession of the 90s By 1997 employment was rising, growth stable, and the deficit was well under control, meaning that Gordon Brown as chancellor inherited the most benign economic scenario for any British government of the last century. The situation was so fundamentally strong that it took three successive Labour administrations to wreck it

And it's not me that's built an entire argument based on a premise that is utter bollocks , you're entire argument is based on a pledge that was made a week before a financial crash and hinges on a financial model not factoring in any adjustments for said financial crash. Quite odd really

@greedminds on the back foot. Just going around insulting people now instead of debating.
Try again

Wow, he really isnt. We have nearly a million people eating out of food banks, we have an NHS on the verge of collapse, we are cutting education spending by 12% in the next couple of years, we have millions on zero hours contracts, we have 25% of 18 to 24s that are NEET's, we have higher levels of homelessness than at any time in the last 20 years, we have people being kicked out of their homes courtesy of a bedroom tax with not enough smaller properties for them to go to, we have immigration levels that we were promised would be in the tens of thousands but are now higher than they were in 2010, we have a govt that has increased the national debt by more in this parliament than Labour did in 13 years in power, we have a govt who claimed that they would balance the books by 2015 but are running a deficit of £75 billion despite destroying public services......The list goes on......Cameron and Gideon are nothing short of an abysmal failure on every level and even their own modest measures.

The tories benefited from a number of booms and at NO POINT did they ever run a surplus. In 18 years they ran deficit after deficit after deficit. Are you trying to claim they finally broke that cycle and Labour benefited from that and ran a surplus for virtually a whole parliament? Really?:lol::lol::lol:
