What a load of hubristic nonsense

Build a f***ing island and not worry about the cost or the flood plain impact on the rest of the Thames estuary

3 other airports within easy reach of London, not including Heathrow that could probably expand and the transport links to them be dramatically improved

An airport in that location is no good to anyone anyway.

A hub airport needs to be to the north or north west of London.

Putting it to the east will make it far more difficult to get to for most of the bog population centres, it wouldn't even be that convenient for London itself.

Somewhere like say, Heathrow, is about as good a location ad you are going to get.

How many airports do the need like ffs?

London Heathrow
London Gatwick
London Luton
London Stansted
London City
London Southend
London Oxford
London Biggin Hill

Given the population density and the fact that the South East is an economic hub, more than anywhere else in the country, I reckon.

I disagree. Just think they need a bit of joined up thinking with what theyve got instead of a load of vanity projects.

But the point of a hub airport is that it's a hub.

It doesn't work if you have to move from one airport to another via train or whatever to get to your destination.

As a hub it needs to capacity to offer flights to all the major destinations, as well as accept incoming local flights.

You don't want to have to fly from Newcastle or Brussels to Gatwick, then travel to Heathrow to fly onto Mumbai.

You can already fly from Ponteland and Brussels to Heathrow. You can also fly from Brussels to Mumbai direct.

legacy, he's all about legacy...

boris bikes...

boris buses...

boris airport...

He had fuck-all to do with the bikes, other than to take all the credit when they were introduced. Ken Livingston created that project after seeing the scheme that was introduced in Paris.

Heathrow is already a hub airport. You just pay more to fly there
