Physical activity has little role in tackling obesity

I've not been sensible Andrew, my depression has been shit for months and very bad habits crept in. I'm back on some tablets that help my mood and that will hopefully set me up more positively to make the required changes.

Ah right, hopefully you feel better soon and good luck!!

I know, I dropped 4 stone relatively quickly through diet and exercise before I had my son, now I've shot back up to the heaviest i've been and got a shock when I stood on the scales yesterday.

I know man, I need to pull my finger out.

I'm sorry if this is going to sound unsympathetic which it will, because sympathy I believe is the last thing you need!

Going on what you have posted before, on here and FTB, I think the following is not far from the truth.

1) You were a very attractive lady (your photographs, certainly, showed that) who is about 5'7"/5'8" tall and used to weigh in at around 9st.

2) You now weigh around 24 stones.

This leads you to look in the mirror and despise yourself/feel depressed and then eat more.

How am I doing so far?

I'll save the rest until I read your reply.

4000 maybe, I need to get below 2000, I know what to do, I'm even considering buying a juicer and trying 5 days juice diet with moderate eating on a weekend, it would help shift the weight certainly.
With all respect, you don't need to buy any equipment or owt, just eat less.

Diets are shite and a waste of time.

Proof, if proof was needed, that running (waddling quickly) to the ice cream van does not excuse Rex's (@Oba ) ManvsFoodesque Magnum-a-thons

Aye, loads of alcoholics are the same mate, I think eating becomes a chore.[/QUOTE]
Never heard that one before but I suppose it stands to reason. Did a quick google and read this...

Ideally, all should aim to keep their waist measurement less than half that of their height, found the scientists. That means a 6ft (72 inch) tall man should aim to keep his waist less than 36 inches, while a 5ft 4in (64 inch) woman should keep hers under 32 inches.

I'm winning.

Pissed it: My waist is 10-12 inches smaller than my chest, and well under half my height. I'm off for a drink to celebrate.

I'm going to have to choose booze with the least calories in - vodka and low sugar / sugar free pop, as I dont like water. I also like coffee with a little milk and no sugar.
Feeling down and drink are not a good combination. Try to build up to being a month alcohol free. If you drink everyday have one day off the first week and then two days off the next and build up that way. Depending on how much you drink and for how long you may want to see your doctor first. A couple of home glasses of wine a night can easily add up to 4000 calories a week!

Bit over the top on the weight estimate there - I weigh 22 clem, but the rest is right yes. I haven't been 9 stone since I was about 15, my fighting weight is generally 11-12 stone (and I'd be very happy with that).

Leave her alone man, f***ing bully.
Its okay Andrew, its mostly true what he's saying.

My Mrs has just done her annual 'joining a gym 2 months before our holiday' despite being only 2lb heavier than when we got married 24 years ago.

Genetics. The greedy cow eats twice as much as me.

On Tuesday I set myself a goal to walk 20 miles. In the event , according to the pedometer on my watch I walked 11.8 miles. My feet are still recovering. According to the health app on my phone I burned off 1064 kcal which is just slightly more than a Double Whopper Cheese burger only with no extras ! Ironically that was just what I fancied eating

I've never been interested in walking/running as a form of exercise, always preferring something more reaction based (foofball/squash would be two good examples) but for the past 3 years I've had a problem that would prevent me doing that, even if I wished to!

It's called a verruca!

I've no idea how it arrived (the only one I've had previously was when I was about 14) but this one has taken/still is taking some effort to remove!

I went down the surgical route, which left, temporarily, a bl**dy great hole in my foot but it came back and since then have just had my other half cut it back so it's not painful.

However, I now understand that is not the right thing to do and it should be rubbed with a pumice stone before applying Bazooka Gel (or similar).

Have not, though, been able to find a pumice stone in Thailand but a friend is arriving from the UK this week and is bringing me one.

That is not to suggest that once my problem is solved I'll take up walking/running as a means of regaining fitness, because I know I wont but should make my general life more comfortable!

What I should/must do is go back to my old sit up/touch toes/swivel waist routine.

Leave her alone man, f***ing bully.

She needs help, not someone giving her sympathy!
