That wage bill makes giving larrson brown jos new deals even more unbelievable if true. There is clearly no plan at the sol if we are that close to wage limit and are handing out new deals, we are rewarding failure. Also why sign brown to a deal taking up a large chunk of cash for him to sit on the bench as forth choice?. Forth cb spot should surely be for a young kid from the aol?.

Also £20m is not buttons if we spent that on two quality players it could completly change our season.

I've tried to explain why £20m is not much money. When you say 'two quality players', we would likely be able to spend around £7m tp £8m each on two players. Once wages are taken into account, there's your £20m used up. To put a £7m player into context, here is what that kind of money gets you from teams in and around us in the league.

Jordan Veretout - Nantes, £8m
Jordan Amavi – Nice, £7m
Tyrone Mings – Ipswich Town, £8m
Shinji Okazaki – Mainz, £7.5m
Robbie Brady - Hull, £7m
Etienne Capoue – Tottenham, £6m
James Chester - Hull, £8m

Anything in there that screams 'quality' to you?

Veretout has a lot to prove, but from what I've seen of Amavi, he looks like one of the best left backs I've seen. I'm fairly sure it's reasonable to conclude he already is one of the best left backs in the league. f***ing ridiculous talent.

£20million is buttons. If we have that left to spend, one player for a £10million fee and 50k a week will take up around £13m to £14m of that once you factor in signings on and agent fees etc.

For the risk of anyone missing the news story, I will repeat it. We have the 8th highest wage bill in the league. We cannot add players before we free up space on the wage bill. If we were to get rid of Bridcutt, Vergini, Buckley and Giacc we would be freeing up something like £5million a year of wages on top of any transfer fees we receive.
Vergini is gone to Getafe on loan so they'll be paying a chuck of the wages. Plus we signed him this summer and didn't want him!

So?

EDIT - That's if you ignore any loan fee for M'Vila, the signing of Vergini and the £9m or whatever it is hanging over our head for Alvarez.
We spend nearly £11m on players we don't want?!

No wonder the club is in a mess. How about getting rid of Congerton and making cuts in the boardroom to free up wages?

We did want them. Poyet wanted Virgini but we had to structure the deal so that he signed permanently after his dodgy ownership ended. We effectively signed Alvarez last summer but deferred payment to this summer when we could 'afford' it. Now, with a different manager and injury we're trying to wriggle out of it.

The total boardroom wages are around 900k mate.............wont have any tangible effect I am afraid...........

So they finished with more points than us last season and have invested over £40m on new players. First team players whilst we've sold Wickham for £9m and apart from Lens have signed a bunch of rejects. Class.
aye but #5inarow man haway haway haway

Looks promising but calling him one of the best left backs in the league after 2 games (one against Bournemouth) -:lol::lol:

Azpilicueta, Baines, Kolorov, Monreal, Gibbs, Clichy, Bertrand. Then you have players like Shaw, Pieters, Cresswell.

It's not reasonable at all to be honest.

Amavi is really really good, and if you can't see this then you don't understand anything about football man. Will be one the best signings this season and maybe even the best left back in EPL. Even in a shit Villa team. Will be sold for big money soon.

edit. If you guys think Pieters is better then wake up
