Boozers in central Durham

Any recommendations?

Have to be in the city centre for a couple of hours this afternoon, so looking for somewhere to sit and have a couple of pints and watch the match (probably on my phone as I'm assuming the chances of any central pubs having it on are slim).

Never go for a drink there, so bar the Shakespeare I have zero frame of reference. Want to avoid the chain places like Spoons etc if possible.

Shakeys ok, also Half moon, Dun cow, City Hotel all have quiet corners and decent beers. Market Tavern is a bit foody but ok, then there's Head of Steam just off North road which has great beers. I'd go to Dun Cow.

Yes. It's getting turned into student accommodation.
That's a shame - such a long-standing pub with a great reputation.

Is it "The curious Mr Fox" on Riverside walk?
Saying its on Riverside walk is a stretch, considering that building has been there long long before the Riverside Walk was built, and is access from the other side.

Wifi in Wetherspoons is usually good enough to watch the match if that's what you need.
