You'll need to install some addons - there are different ones which cover Music etc. so look for how to install video addons. These are usually in repositories - fusion is a resource that holds a few repositories such KinKin, Lambda etc.

Downloading files has nothing to do with xbmc.

It does if you want it to. I use it to download so I can watch offline when travelling etc

Myp2p for sport if you want it for free. Offside streams is well worth a tenna a month and has a repo on xbmc
