Occasionally get it over here (Germany) when a birthday party is held the day before. At midnight they set off fireworks but almost always at the weekend.

I heard it clearly there were two explosions. It's obviously an illegal firework set off by a local idiot.
This time of year it's par for the course. We allow fuckwits to get hold of explosives all in the name of a daft celebration. But because they are called fireworks everything is ok.
As an aside the wife looked out the window after the bangs. She said it was so loud and sounded close I thought something had exploded in the shed. I said what do you think I keep in there that could explode like that? An exploding lawn mower or screwdriver set maybe.
