If it was overfilled this week what's it going to be like when you've waited another fortnight to have it emptied, know any decent hedgerows or take it to the tip?

If you recycle as much as you can then your green bin should be nowhere near the point where the lid doesn't shut.

If it is just do what I do and climb in and jump up and down a bit - surprising how far you can compress it
