People who dont think London is tremendous.

This place is all about opinions, but surely the people who've lived/live in London are more qualified to talk about it. I've lived in Sunderland (23 years) and London (5 years) and believe it or not, I think London's better. I don't have any loyalty to defend the place, I live here because I think it's mint, not because I've not got any choice in the matter. Similarly, I have friends who've lived in both London, Paris and New York. One of them got really sick of London after a few years and prefers Paris of London and New York. Another friend of mine f***ing hates New York and wants to live in London forever (or at least he says that now). I can only speak from what I've experienced, and wouldn't dream of passing comment on what it's like to live somewhere I haven't, because that would be f***ing stupid.

So no opinions if you haven't personally experienced it? What a bizarre world that would be.

I think London would be a pretty shit place to live if you've got only a relatively small income. You are just going to have to accept that i'm afraid.

I never understand the "London is expensive" bollocks. There are 2 things which cost more, booze and rent. Once those are out if the way everything costs the same. Just there is 200000x more things to do.

Well a roof over my head and booze are pretty major things imo.

So did I, then I experienced it and thought it was mint. I wouldn't hesitate to move back either.

Nah it's utter nonsense I'm afraid. On a typical Saturday (when I was skint) I'd get up, have my breakfast, go for a jog round Victoria Park then come back and me and my lass would go for a stroll down Regent's Canal past all the barges, have wander round all the stalls at Brick Lane/Broadway Market, pop down to the TATE and have a mooch about the South bank then go and find our mates on London Fields and have a drink or get a BBQ on the go. One other days we'd go to Hampstead Heath, Richmond, Greenwich where a similarly enjoyable/free time can had by all. These days I do similar things except I go for brunch beforehand and can purchase things throughout the day.

Basically if you don't like scenery, museums, galleries, and things like that, threre's no point trying to explain why it's a good place to live. If all I was interested in was football and cheap drinks Sunderland would probably be a mint place to live.

I read this to the theme tune of Friends

There's no point is there?
none :lol::lol:

That's for sure.

But it really isn't that bad. People just like to slag it off.

I prefer the North East. It's much better. IMO.

Whenever I've been it's been canny rough and some weird people. Haven't been many times, admittedly.

Once I was going into Wear Garth and someone threw a half a brick off my head on the staircase, I found that a little worrying.

I'd imagine it's more to do with being able to buy a nice big house with a canny bit land, rather than a converted cupboard.

I couldn't do my job in Sunderland though. Nor could my mate who just bought a house in London recently. Nor could my other mate who works in TV. Or my other mate who's signed to a London record label. Do you see what I'm getting at?

I accept that you have an opinion, and it's an opinion I disagree with. The reason I accept it is because it's based on absolutely nothing other than guesswork.

I promise you it's better than Herrington mate.

its not guesswork if i'm working on facts tho. My standard of living would drop dramatically if i moved to London. That is simply a fact. Whether someone is happy to accept that aslong as they have various museums/galleries and such like close to hand is up to personal opinion.

That isnt a trade i would be willing to make tho. You are happy to tho so fair enough.

You'd have to live in a smaller house but you'd not have to own, run or tax a vehicle because you'd be using public transport. Your salary would probably increase. You'd probably save money on holidays because you can get cheaper flights down here...when you say 'standard of living', what exactly are you thinking of?

 I'm finding myself hating it out of spite now like.

Was supposed to be going to the Winter wonderland again this year but had to cancel due to unforseen circumstances. Gutted tbh like.

I'd have to live in a much smaller house.
My salary wouldn't particularly increase (not by much either way).
I like having a car.
The cheaper flights thing does not mean owt for me.

Do i need to explain standard of living? Really???

You'd have to drink fewer pints of lager because lager costs more money in London? That's it isn't it? That's literally it.
