Raby Hunt - pricy but v good.
Cook and Barker in Newton on the Moor
Northumberland Arms in Felton has just re-opened and is always chocka as the scran is supposed to be so good.

Blackfriars in Newcastle is brilliant.
Finbarrs in Durham.
Cinammon Lounge (formerly the bird in hand) is good if you fancy a dirty Indian meal. The last one I had there was excellent and I've eaten quite a few in my time.

Agree, Blackfriars has a lovely menu with good local produce, nice atmosphere.

Agree with that.

The menu has just changed too, I had belly pork with mustard mash with cabbage in a lush jus/gravy thing. Sticky toffee pudding for dessert and haggis and blackpudding starter.

On another note avoid Harrys in Newcastle, I ate there a few weeks ago and spunked nearly £80 on a lunch time, the starter was good enough a haggis scotch egg but the main was a brisket burger which was £15 and f***ing tiny. Then my mate who delivers there told me the place is wick with rats.

The Farm shop at Knitsley near Delves Lane, Consett has the best corned beef pie I've ever eaten if you're just after something simple. Always seem to spend a fortune in the shop though.
