Many of my family are from India, and many are still practising Hindus. I can honestly say that I've never heard any stories girls/women in this country being mistreated in ways which happen over there. It seems to be very much a cultural thing which hasn't travelled from the subcontinent.

I've got a few Indian friends. They were born here but still class themselves as Indian. (Most racist people I've ever met btw...)
They visit India regularly through family commitments, but they're all very glad to get back. They are embarrassed about the treatment of women over there.

Nah sorry I can't have that. I am going to tar you all with the same brush and assume you all do all of the worst extramities of Hinduism. That's how it works with muslims on here isn't it ?

Apparently we can dismiss anything Hindus do in Asia as they don't do it here but not treat muslims equitably. I am more than happy to call a spade a spade for all religions that treat other people badly

All of my family who were born here call themselves British/English. The older ones (sadly not many left) still call themselves Indian and regularly return to India to visit family. I honestly don't think we could have assimilated any better into this country. We've all done pretty well for ourselves too, which is testament to how great this f***ing country is!

This is something that I really don't understand. In fact, I find it quite frustrating. It's 2015 for crying out loud!!!



There must be a more efficient way of applying tar than using a brush!

Do you have any muslim friends that are embarrassed about the subjegation of women in Islam ?

To be fair, if you ask them if they're Indian or English, they usually say "depends whether we're watching football or cricket" :lol:
They have all assimilated almost completely. All absolutely grateful for how lucky they are.
Two of them married lasses from India. When their wives went to become British citizens, they were the only ones there to swear allegiance to the queen. Everyone else said the other affirmation shit they could choose. Really pissed them off.

Thanks for that, but the thread is about Muslims not Hindus. Women have been subjugated in all religions, this is a fact I'm not disputing. Some religions have moved on and become more egalitarian and some have not, in particular Islam. I don't see myself as a champion of women, but this is the kind of sardonic response you tend expect from certain posters on these threads.
