A1 Team Valley Junction 67 closed from 12/11

the whole of the region is knackered with roadworks and closures.
last week i went up to aberdeen in the wagon from billingham. the a19 was shut around seaham so went via bradbury, the a1 was shut at team valley and the diversion was through newcastle so back to the a19 and through the tunnel then the a19 was shut again at holystone so back across to the a1 at killingworth.
then the a1 had 2 lots of roadworks where they used an escort through.
pleased it's not my diesel i'm using.

I’m not sure if you’re serious? But I’ll answer anyway. Traffic Officers from Roads Policing would usually monitor this stretch of road.
Completely serious. Hardly any chance of seeing a traffic cop on the A1 Western Bypass, never mind them subsequently taking action for middle lane hoggers

I got done for speeding 2 years ago on the stretch down from the angel and have regularly seen cops on that part

The amount of people who enter the A1 north at CLS and are desperate to get straight off the slip into what becomes the middle lane. I just keep going up the slip and it becomes the slow lane anyhow. Then move over into the middle once you get up by the services

I use(d) that every night. ffs. harlow green and wreckenton are already knackered with people trying to avoid the queues. might try north exit of team valley onto the a1 before everyone clicks on

Come off at that exit and join the A692 towards Consett. When you get to the crossroads with traffic lights at Sunniside, turn left and you can follow the backroads from there. Have a look on Google maps.

That's the way I'll be going home while it's closed.

This!

Heading into Newcastle/Gateshead from Chester area: the A1 has major roadworks, the alternative road through Birtley has several sets of temporary lights for the cycle path works, and now if you go through Ouston, there's temp lights on the main road for Virgin Broadband installation 🤦‍♀️

Driving in the middle lane when the left hand lane is empty leads to charges of careless driving.

Also if you’re in the middle lane while the left hand lane is empty it isn’t undertaking if the left hand lane is moving more quickly than the middle lane.
You want to try M6N after Preston ,it's ridiculous middle lane tossers

Thanks Becs, I've used that road a few times. It's probably going to be the easiest way.

It not quicker to rat run through Ouston, or to Lamesley then turn right and down Birkshead Lane, I know whenever I need to get down Stanley / CLS way it's the way I'd go as it can be a nightmare with queues towards Sunniside.

Gateshead to Kip Hill - Birkshead Lane route.

It's Team Valley South that's closed, so should be able to still leave there.

I think I've misread it. I thought it meant you couldn't get off at the Sainsburys Team Valley roundabout if you're already on the A1, hence getting off at the previous junction.

Ouston has temporary traffic lights outside the garage as they're digging up the road to put Virgin Broadband in. It took me over 10 minutes just to get out of Ouston this morning due to the tailbacks for that.

Other side, I believe, it's so they can connect the Team Valley on slip road onto the new bridge, then assume move everything across. Not really possible without shutting the thing.

Ah, thanks for that, have to take a different way if I need to get down that way.

I live in Birtley and even just getting out the place (or back in it) is a f***ing nightmare at the minute, seems to be a new set of roadworks plonked somewhere else every week.

It’s got to the point now where I despise having to drive anywhere in the north east, certainly anywhere around my area and north towards Newcastle (which isn’t ideal because I work through there) or any route north that requires the A1.

If we had a tube system like London we’d ditch one of our cars tomorrow and I’d happily let her have it and I’d use that. I wouldn’t even like to work out the amount of time I spend wasting it sat in traffic, it would be soul destroying.
