Say something like....

+ Defoe doesn't have to play alone up front.
+ blistering pace on both wings.
+ strong central defence.
- who's going to replace the three centre-backs when one is injured/suspended.
- having three potential liabilities at the centre of defense rather than two.........
- how will we cope defensively on the wings?
 


We've got Defoe, Borini, Lens and Toivonen so we need to play a formation that gets them all in the team. Don't think we'll play three at the back this season at all.
 
Kaboul would need to be a sweeper as he is the fastest central defender we have.

No, because out of our centre backs only Kaboul has any pace and ability on the ball.

To play a three man defence you need two very capable defenders that can push wide and a central player that plays more as a ball player/sweeper.

Van Aanholt - Kaboul - O'Shea - Yedlin with M'Vila and Rodwell just in front is probably the best we can do with what we have got. Lombaerts would have been such a good player in that defence mind. :(
 
We always utilised Borini best by playing counter attacking football, but we have another dimension now with M'Vila able to pick a pass. Anar you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but if only we could get Fletcher/Graham to hold the bloody ball up long enough to get into a decent shape and support them.
