Agree with everything you've said; music is the most important thing - I love my vinyl, but the format isn't the most important aspect and it's becoming too much of a thing
I'm chuffed it's getting popular. It's shit when you see kids thinking they are djs cos they downloaded an app or bought a cd mixer. I'm all for it me.

I'm seeing first hand, young(er) dj's actually starting to discover the roots of dance music and where the origins lay. so the like of Frankie knuckles, ron hardy, larry levan, the loft, studio 54, nicky siano.......

Good to hear. The likes of that skrillerex headlining Glastonbury was a joke when the likes of Greg Wilson plays Shangri La at 4am. I know it wouldn't work as headline stuff but the kid is a multi millionaire for being largely untallented.

I agree to a certain extent but I'm more concerned in physical formats vs downloads; if you're going to start raving and being snobby about vinyl as a medium you need really good reproduction (IMHO) and I bet half the stuff getting bought now is getting played on those crappy USB or god awful retro turntables and overpriced reconditioned stereograms

that said it doesn't stop me spending far too much on the black stuff :D

Aye it will be. Funnily enough I'm after a record player and not sure what's good.

Not exactly the same but the original Blue Monkey was bringing people by the coach/mini bus from all over the North East and West. So if we can get something sorted we could try and do something that puts Sunderland back on the map and give an alternative to Newcastle.

I bought a project deck, from richer sounds, for about £200.

no spinbacks mind

'black crack'

my point is learning a bit of knowledge, either first hand, or the internet.

I've been buying and digging for records, for about 25 years and STILL get excited by a bargain bin..haha

recently, I've unearthed a copy of "spasticus autisticus" on promo and sold it for £70..

as a sign off

rpm, on high bridge street (wink), are selling reconditioned turntables / old hi fi units..beautiful pieces.

Project stuff is very good value, i've got their Tubebox S phono stage running off a Rega RP3 and it's quality

There is nowt like buying a bargain; if I could only work out the selling part afterwards I'd be loaded

mate, pop down to the next seasoned sounds.. I dare you..ha

If you don't want DJ stuff, which I know precisely fuck all about, then I'd go with Rega; British made, excellent build quality, range goes from entry-level to audiophile pricey and you've got upgrade options inbetween
Cheers I'll have a look.

meant to say, rpm on high bridge, are doing turntables and hi fi systems. some beauties!.

Finally the last post gets it right, nee such place as High Bridge Street ;)

Music, booze and top tunes, what's not to like. I spent 25 years splurting all my spare cash on vinyl and binned it when I went abroad in 2003 or I'd have been there trying to trade my Tik and Tok extended remixes

Won't be to the DJ kids taste but picked up a few bargains in a charity shop in Halifax yesterday, The Platters Ist album from '57 on Mercury, Ray Charles Rhythm and Blues meets Country from '65 and Piledriver by the Quo, on swirly Vertigo, still the best label logo! All for a quid each
