Does the ref have to give something to then check VAR, obviously in cricket you give a soft signal if you want the 3rd umpire to check for a catch but if Atwell just said 3 players were blocking my view I honestly couldnt see anything does the rules say he cant check the video? I'd rather they were honest and say they couldnt see it rather than guess knowing VAR is a back up. I know the outcome is the same but guessing shouldnt really come into it.

I actually think there should be a signal for refs to say they didn't get a decent view of it. That protocol doesn't exist. currently exist. Refs have to guess a hell of a lot.
