2004, Reading away.

We won 2-0, Tommy Smith and Darren Byfield scored, the reading fans all sang 'you're gonna win fuck all'.

Sadly they were right.

was this the one ,where kid in a batman/superman costume was on the pitch ?
our fans singing something about" we've got batman on the wing"
If so I was there.
It was Batman and it was pre-season 96/97 season. Won 2-0 I think-we stopped on a camping site and went to Bury away Wednesday then Chester on the Friday. Batman was class - 'From the banks of Gotham City' being my particular favourite chant.

Birmingham 0-0 Sunderland circa 1993.
Nowt happened, highlight of the match was when a player was injured and Don Goodman sat on the ball while waiting and got lots of abuse from the home fans on the Kop.
He then span round while sitting on the ball and faced them. That was it, nowt else although Gordon Armstrong may have put a sitter over from about 5 yards at the far end.
Oh and a fight in the pub on the corner pre match whereby the bandit landed on me.

If that was when Barry Fry was in charge I was in corporate and he was hilarious. Was quite looking forward to meeting Karen Brady but she was nowt special. Crap game though

Blackpool away around 1975. Two nowt down got it back to 2-2 then that pelanty miss from Billy Hughes, peanut seller in the white coat behind the goal jumping around trying to put him off. They gan up the other end and that greasy haired get Walsh scores the goal of the season to win it for them in the last minute. Was a bit lively on their Kop that day too, running battles and stuff being lobbed around.

Remember some of the lads jumping on the donkies on the beach and trying to have a bit of a race , the local pikey is still waiting to be paid for them.

Coventry 3-2 Sunderland 2000. 3 down after 20 minutes and ended up nearly grabbing a draw. I went in the home end that day

28th October 2006, Hull away. Last minute Ross Wallace goal followed by him being sent off and then turning back round to the Sunderland fans and continuing to celebrate.

We missed a load of chances, Daryl Murphy or Chris Brown managed to miss a ball rolling about 1mph from about 6 yards out.

Talking of Coventry, sure we played them on a Monday night 10 year ago or so, Colin Healy got a bad injury.

Sure there wasn't many away fans neither.

Man City 0 Safc 0

Pre season, Ian Brightwell's testimonial, watched eagerly by a crowd of about 5000. The most friendly of pre season friendlies. I can't remember either team breaking sweat or threatening to score.
Highlight of the game was watching the stewards fail to control a conga line in our end that was being led in rhythm by someone with a big bin lid.

I was there, 1st game after Play Off Final!

Paul Butler debut anarl

Stoke away 1993 ish, Phil gray only goal at the far end. Nowt else really happened except I think the weather was surprisingly nice.
We played in that teal kit iirc.
Also Stoke away in 1985-86, loads of Sunderland fans nicked for nowt, lost 1-0.

Stoke 2006? Michael Bridges scored the only goal late on in front of away end. As I jumped up I clouted my 11yr old lad in the heed with my elbow. He was manfully trying not to cry while holding his head with one hand & punching the air with the other. I was trying to balance gannin' mental at the goal with showing concern for his possible concussion and feeling guilty at being such a bad parent

Brighton away 1987
Iirc, we fell to our lowest ever position following this 3-1 defeat????
Travelled overnight from Heworth, nee cludgees on buses then, arrived at 0700, and waited for the cafes and pubs to open.
Went onto the pier for a lite ale and had my first encounter ( oo-er) with a gayer. A right mincing barman served my drink and really hammed it up, must have knew I was a thick Northerner with no poof experience.
Went into the seats behind the goal, got stuffed, hangover on the way home, back for midnight and then still a taxi back to Whickham

Stayed in Bredbury Hall that night, pissed as a rat

Class place, I stayed there a few times full of sluts!

2-2 Man Utd they scored last minute Ferdinand OG.

End up with some 40odd year old in the room, made her a cuppa and got hammered off the lads. I did fingerblast her like.

Was in the main home stand for that, close to the exec boxes. Managed to keep ourselves undercover for 90 minutes then let it all out when Wallace slammed it in.
Mind, there was quite a few of us in close proximity, loved it!

Blackpool away February 1975. Hitch hiked down and grabbed a bit kip in a bus shelter when we got there. Over 50 coaches from Sunderland. We were 2nd in the league (Div2) behind the mighty Man U. Went 2 goals down but pulled back to 2-2 then this happened......Mickey Walsh, goal of the f***ing season in the last minute.

I was at that game with the shields branch as well. Full price for a seat and got in to find they'd all gone. Shit game, nowt happened. First game of the season I think.
lovely sunny day if I remember . Police were taking dangerous objects at the turnstyles. I checked in 2 fruit bowls and two top coats to their secure cloakroom!
