The support this club gets.....

Jardine really hates the fact that we're getting huge crowds despite being utter shit for years, all the while that knob jockey is sitting in the boozer on his lonesome.

How the fuck a club that hasn't a single thing or competed in Europe for 40 odd years and can still get these gates is simply unbelievable.

I couldn't say for certain, but I'd wager that there's not another club in Europe who could average 43k+ crowds that haven't won anything or competed in Europe in the last 40 years.
Well said.
Bloke is just a troll using the word objective as cover.
You can tell he has done well mind, he is a van driver after all.

Supporters are supporters. They have a choice. There is no special praise required for people who do something they CHOOSE to do.

So people don't have an emotional attachment to the city in which they live?
I also felt very let down when ku klub bit the dust. Only place that played decent music![/QUOTE]

There is no way of proving anything, but I think you're being a bit deluded there. Whilst your crowds are impressive, your numbers are clearly boosted by the fact you have cheaper tickets than a lot of clubs. If the clubs with global support like Man United and Arsenal paid similar prices to you then they could easily get 43k+ regardless of a lack of success. Not having a dig at you at the expense of them, it's just the way I see it.

£25 (as an example) tickets at a lot of clubs would add thousands on to the gate when the likes of Spurs, Liverpool, Arsenal etc are paying comfortably double. The glory hunters for the top clubs would fall away, but the local traditional support would come back from those who have been priced out, with the cheaper tickets on offer.

But Man Utd and Arsenal wouldnt be big global brands currently without their recent success.

Interesting. Where did you find that?

Got it from twitter, not the best of sources but the best we have for this sort of thing.

Bit misleading at the moment with certain clubs having done the further trips more so than others, and also due to the fact that some have restricted allocations like Man United. Come the end of the season I expect the Sky 4 will have sold out every full allocation available to them with us and Spurs next (we took 2,500 to Southampton, not 3,000), then Man City, then yourselves.

Aye, we have Swansea and loads of London games coming up (which the Mags have mostly played hence their massive difference)

Leicester will fall down next season if they stay up.

Hull have, had a fairly solid average last season but took nothing to your lot and 1,800 for a match just up the road for us.

So sunderland fans are the best just not those on the minimum wage ey?
Very classy!

When you get to you're mid 30's(like you claim you are) and you're in a dead end job picking up shit money, I'd suggest it's time to reevaluate your life. You have failed in life.

So anybody picking up the minimum wage in there mid 30 a have failed in life?
What a nice man you are.

Just mentioned on the Snar thread that my nine year old grandson is coming up for the match on Saturday. He attends a school in Cheshire and proudly wears his Sunderland strip whenever possible despite his mates all wearing Man U/City, Liverpool, Everton gear.

Is nothing short of phenomenal

Record low points (twice)
Nee European football
Relegation scrap season after season.

And we still turn up in ridiculously big numbers.

This club is great because of the support it gets. f***ing love Sunderland, me.

the numbers defy belief at times... our away support is something i'm really proud of and i love being a part of.
we've lost our way a bit at home in terms of atmosphere and i'm not sure how that can be repaired
