Charles Aranguiz

I didn't mean Heskey was our best signing, he was a youth product and Leicester lad like Lineker & Shilton.

Banks was from Chesterfield and wasn't considered world class when we signed him.

Aranguiz would have been our greatest signing of a player that was already established.

Although it looks like he won't be coming as I write.

Damn shame.
Give over, you lot once signed Steve Guppy.

Wheeez this knacker?
Starting threads about Leicester transfer rumours on a Sunderland Message Board
WTF?

Leicester had a lot more household names than is down the years to be fair.

At one point they had Gordon Banks in goal and Peter Shilton his understudy.

That arguably has to be the best goalkeeping options of any club in the world of all time.

In fact Leicester only sold 29 year old world cup winner Gordon Banks in 1967 because the 18 year old Shilton demanded first team football or be sold.

Leicester thought that highly of Shilton they sold Banks and it shows you the 18 year old confidence Shilton had in himself to make demands on the best GK in the world to be shipped out.

That's who I was thinking of.
Gary Lineker was another one.

I'm starting to feel a bit sorry for this Leicester fan now. End of the season he was on here like the cock of the north, exultant that his team had finished above one of when shittest sunderland teams I've known, regaling us with takes of potential top six finishes and attracting the world's best.

Then Pearson is sacked and the Leicester fan doesn't let that bother him, indeed, we are told that since there are no top six management jobs available klopp would jump at the chance of managing David nugent.

Now, ten days before the start of the season his last bastion of hope of getting one over us is that a player we have barely heard of, may be forced to join Leicester, and we should all be once again sniffing the toe jam of the greatest team to come from the east Midlands.

Next week he will be telling us that Leicester signing Carlton Cole and David Meyler are deals we could only dream of.

Gordon Banks pffft I stroked a penalty past him once, sent him the wrong way, made him look a right tatey.
He was about fifty at the time and only had one eye

I find it hard to believe that theres a player out there that is better at his job than Frank Worthington or Gordon Banks other than Messi and Ronaldo.

Nice one, during or after his career?

Isn't that an award currently held by Muzzy Izzet?

Muzzy was an unheard of Chelsea reserve when we signed him.

I'd say our most high profile signing was when we broke the British transfer record in 1968 to sign Allan Clarke, a year before I was born though.

In all seriousness we're trying but to no avail. We've been linked with players that have been linked with CL clubs in all five major European leagues and generally have been offering the best transfer fee and wages.

We're the average looking chancer in the club hitting on all the hotties but getting rejected.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

You said greatest ever signing in the OP not most high profile. Given the fact Leicester are an absolute nothing club and always have been I'd say Muzzy Izzet is pretty high up there.
