Joining a Union - worth it?

Myself, I thought he made some excellent points on this thread no matter what the majority say,but of course that did not stop the gang picking up on one mistake and going to town

I agree he does make some excellent points, he just needs to realize everybody's work situation isnt as good as his;)

I wouldn't really say he got picked on by a gang tbh mate. Its all a bit of fun, if he is going to call a couple of posters out for lying only for them posters to be proved right he should expect a bit or ribbing. I am sure he would have been happy to laud it over me and @Mackem00 if it was found we were lying

See if he matches my donation eh;)

Yeah maybe because he is the bigger and better man:D

Thats plain to see to everyone on this board anyway mate tbh;)

He calls me arrogant, he's dead to me. ;)

Your a good un mate, caught me on my time of the month;)

It is worth joining a Union if you like to suck Stalin's decomposed cock and hate your own country. Fuck off to Cuba you commies.

Here's more Union material.

Fuck off man , he was after rob like a dog with a bone , larging it about laying money out and coming across as generally top hound on the lad .
Aye we've all done it but when you come a cropper the least your ' mates ' can do is make sure you wear it for a while .
It's how it works and for my money he knows it and took it well enough even hanging about for the duration so we got enough swipes in , no harm done .... The capitalist cxnt;)

Not sure about that mate seems to have to much class to laud it over anyone as do you mate, which was the point I was trying to make, it would have been easy for you to laud it over him but your choose not too unlike some posters.

I agree everybody's situation is different and previously said did not agree with some of things he said.

However to me he comes across as a very good poster who in general made some very good points and I have the perception he has worked hard to where he has got himself and admire that,as I said previously did not agree when some posters said he acted all superior and arrogant just did not see that.

Did not see that at all mate and tbh did not think Rob took it personally either

I was in tears man;)

I think me and JJH have had the same arguments every time this thread comes up the past 6 months:lol:

They were great for me, got my issue sorted straight away, they told me what to do and say.

Never said that they weren't great mate - what I said is that they give out duff advice regularly because they are fed duff information from the person ringing them regularly. Take it from me, they aren't employment law experts and their role is primarily to mediate a) Between employer & employee or b) Between Union and Employer if there is an issue. They will not however intervene in a workplace situation or trade dispute unless an employer requests it and this is rare usually due to the fact that they're fuck expensive. They will certainly never represent you, unlike a union official or the solicitor you would get for free with your union subs. They're also used a lot now pre Employment Tribunal for Early Conciliation where again the union official and/or their solicitor will already be involved.

I see this all too often. People trundle through their working life never thinking they'll need the help of a union. Then all of the sudden they get in the shit and try to join up - it's actually really upsetting having to tell them that they'll get fuck all help from us as it's like getting car insurance after the crash. If you aren't into the organising and activism side of unions that's fine but don't underestimate the unscrupulousness of employers and the potential to be hung out to dry. The law isn't exactly on your side these days.

I wouldn't touch Citizen's Advice with a bargepole - voluntary staff with a few hours training.

So true, I witnessed this only around a month ago, the silly sod was panicking because an overtime payment was late that he was banking on, expected to just join up and that the union rep (who was on site that day ) would just barge in and demand the firm rush though his payment, the rep told him he was being stupid, the daft knacker started telling the rep the union was no use at all and he would have packed in once he'd got his money anyway, sometimes you wonder if twats like that deserve representation.

The answer is of course no. Some folks are just their own worst enemy.
