Calm down man, this isn't crown court.

Whatever was said by Short it seems Advocaat was happy with it and appears to trust the owner.

After that it's just assumptions & guesswork, without any concrete evidence, which is exactly what you're advising against .......... since June ;)

BTW I notice there's no links with your stockpile of cut&paste quotations ...... is there a reason for that?

You seem to be a bit complacent mate......happy to believe whatever line the club spin you. No doubt if it turns to shite as it normally does you'll be on here raging about broken promises.

Here's a few of the quotes bandied about in late May/early June.

“This squad needs four, five or six regulars - not quantity, but quality,” he said.

“If they cannot do that, okay, but then I definitely will not stay"

The Dutch coach says he would be better off quitting next week if the Black Cats do not agree to a swift and decisive squad rebuilding

He says he will only stay if big money investment is on the agenda.

“If they are not clear on the need to invest, then I had better leave"

“The owner has said that he wants to be challenging for ninth or 10th on a regular basis, and even a little bit higher.

"You have to invest to do that because otherwise you have no chance. You have to invest, and then you can build"

The fact that he did indeed stay suggests that promises were made to him.
Didn't realise the transfer window was shut, we have a lot of fannies on this board, who just like to whinge for Tha sake of it

There you go again with these assumptions with any concrete evidence.

Just because I'm not on a soapbox, hitting my fist into my hand, doesn't mean I'm complacent ........I'm not.

And nor will I be on here raging about broken promises, I never believe anything without evidence.

You can't just invent people to rage against so you can trot out your incredible insight and realism.

Whoever you have in mind it isn't me so please stop guessing about what I believe and what I'll do in the future.

And if we make two or three further quality signings before the transfer window shuts in FOUR AND A HALF WEEKS time, then these statements will be true. Nobody on here knows how many deals we may or may not be working on, so calm down and stop pissing your knickers. September is the time to moan if we haven't sufficiently improved the squad.

Not if you're desperate to get your moans in before the club go and spoil it by making signings ;)

What about the suggestion in The Echo that we can't sign anyone until others have been moved on.

Oh, and the little matter of our relatively easy start to the season (a week away)......do we just accept that as collateral damage if we get off to a poor start due to the players the head coach said he wanted not being brought in yet.

You haven't addressed the FFP situation though in our chats......what do you think the implications of it are?

And if we don't?

TBH, I don't give a monkey's about the FFP situation. There's nothing I can do about it and there are dozens of unknown variables.

Discussing it changes nothing, proves nothing and achieves nothing.

Why not wait for the concrete evidence you're so keen on?

We have four and a half weeks to move people on. We would all love to have had our business done early, but most deals are done at the end of the window. If we have a poor start to the season but ultimately end up with a much better squad, then so be it. We have to move on the dead wood, they are holding us back. Christ we've bought some shite over the years.

That seems to be all we've bought tbh!

A lot of the deadwood has either been given a recent new contract or signed in the last two seasons......and who's to say that the likes of Matthews, Coates and Kaboul aren't new deadwood.

Do you think they are or will you wait to see how they play ....... I will.

Well that applies to any new signing surely. Only time will tell if they are the right fit for our club.
