Jimmy Hill

I am heartened by some of the rational responses on here but frankly a lot of the comments are nothing short of disgraceful.
I am pretty certain that a lot of these comments have been made by people not even born when the so called "incident" happened. Regardless of anything Hill has had a big influence on the modern game and the game would not be where it is without him and his innovative mind and creative flair.
Really this offensive tripe does you no favours. It makes you look like some kind of Neanderthal culture at worst and the stereotypical football thug at best. This sort of vilification should be aimed at mass murderers.
Its disgusting but at the same time rather pitiful.

Which posters are you talking about .... they've obviously made a big impression so I'm sure you'll have no problem naming them.

"It makes you look like the stereotypical football thug at best."

Oh really, and what was the very worst thing that's been said ....... one example will do.

You've called people out so you should do the decent thing and name names.

I'm sure you wouldn't want to be seen as the type who would attack people without being sure of your facts.

so don't read it. It's a forum where you are always going to get disagreement and opinions good or bad, the same as you always would in real life. If people don't like the fella then that's their choice, they don't have to justify what they say to you or anyone else on here.

for the record i wouldn't wish dementia on my worst enemy, but at the same time as feeling sorry for his family and friends i have absolutely no respect whatsoever for him. I was around when it happened, and he was a cheat and doesn't deserve my respect.

Despite the criticism I've received I'll state my case regarding booing Hill again.

I booed when I saw him at Fulham because he was doing what he's always done and laughed at the Sunderland supporters.

If SAFC decided to disregard the feelings of many people and 'honour him' with a minute's silence I'd boo that decision not specifically Hill.

Many people swallow all the shite about Hill being an innovator etc. In reality he mostly took other people's ideas ad shouted louder than they had.

He made a living of pontificating and putting himself on a pedestal.

I was at Goodison that night. I know if we had got a result there we would have been okay but it stinks to high heaven what happened at Highfield Road that night.
I have no doubt that Hill instigated flashing up our score, I knew someone at the game and part of Coventry's set up and he confirmed that both teams were told to cool it and what was a blood and thunder affair turned into a pass the parcel competition but the music didn't stop.
As has been said Hill fronted MOTD for years and was seen as the face of all that was right in football, so it really was unforgivable what he did that night.
As to his current plight, I am indifferent though I see his current partner is releasing a book about her years with him and his family are up in arms about it.

ive posted this before , there was a talk in at Roker Park years ago and John Motson and the chin were there , Richie (dont know surname ) from the Hebburn branch put the question to the chin regarding that infamous night . To say for the first time the chin seemed rather irritated and nervous in his reply . Even denied that it was 8 minutes . He knew quite well what had occurred that evening and he was paramount in the outcome .

Clearly some of the Sunderland's supporters need counciling this is a deep seeded problem that will not go away....

Clearly some of the Sunderland's supporters need spelling lessons, this is a deep seeded problem that will not go away

What he did to us was unforgivable and 100% indelible.
I feel for his family but I'm not going to start to say nice things about him just because he's struggling. When he passes I will stay silent but we shouldn't forget what happened. Our history is important to our club. Moments to cherish, moments of pain, we should pass on all of our experiences from generation to generation with honesty. Some respected senior Sunderland fans that are close to me have did exactly that and I've formed an opinion on Jimmy Hill.

If there is any respect shown toward him and I am in the stadium I will stay on the concourse till it's finished.

Two things mate.

Firstly, you're not a hypocrite who turns on the 'tiny tears' as soon as someone you didn't like is ill ....... that makes me sick to my stomach.

Secondly, these people have more than enough money to have him at home surrounded by his loved ones. But what do they do ........ they shove him away in a home and let strangers wipe his arse because he's an inconvenience. But not so much of an inconvenience that they can't use his plight to flog a f***ing book.

To all of the sanctimonious arseholes, who've come on here to wring their hands, I'd ask how many of you would do that to your own Dad or husband?

I wouldn't and stuck by my Dad, who was a violent alcoholic, until the bitter end. So don't come on here telling me to weep for Jimmy f***ing Hill.

Clearly some Sunderland supporters have Dyslexia that's why I blog to improve my spelling but you would not know that.....

WTF to you ......I have Dyslexia and spelling is not my strong suit be to make fun of the situation really shows your true class....

Yet you have no problem with diagnosing some genuine Sunderland supporters, you don't know the first thing about, as having 'a deep seeded problem that will not go away' ........ who the hell are you to make such judgements on people you don't even know? Yes, you have real class don't you?
