Next door neighbours Jack Russell is gonna have pups and the mrs and kids want one, are they horrible little ankle biting dogs who suffer from small dog syndrome? Or have I got this breed completely wrong. She says one of these would be easy to manage and it wouldn't take over the house. Anyone got one? Cheers.

They do tend to take over, no matter how much you say they won't.
First the sofa, then the bed, so expect to be kipping on the floor in a few weeks time.
Small dog that thinks it's a big dog in every sense.

Great dogs if trained correctly & walked every day, can be destructive when they are pups when teething, get a good chew toy for it & it should be ok

Great dogs grew up with one as a kid !
Only breed of dog I've ever not liked that I've had are Spaniels as they're thick as fuck

Must be an owner thing. ;) Ours is sailing through his advanced training class now, having aced the previous three. The only one in the class, that has border collies, retrievers, labs, etc, that does everything off lead anarl. Hasn't had a lead on in 18 months, even in the city centre.

I thought I wouldn't like Jack Russells but then my brother got one for the family and she is excellent. Very intelligent and full of fuck.

Brilliant little shit is ours. Sadly only on long term loan till our sons family come home. She knows that all the humans, including babies are above her, but She knows, so do the other dogs, she is pooch number 1

Also some very good working lines within the Parson marra
There is mate, I'm on my third Jacker, every one of them have been full of character, the one I have now is chocolate brown with a white chest, looks like he's wearing a tuxedo, he's mint, the most intelligent dog I've ever had.

I'd stick him back on the lead mate, I had a Jack just like that, ten year I had him, then one day, for no apparent reason he walked back across the road we'd just crossed and was hit by some fucknut in a car, tare arseing about, It only takes one moment like that and they're gone.

Great breed, but they need quite a bit of stimulation and excercise for their size. Fantastic characters are Jacks, deffo my fave dog breed

Ouch sorry to hear that mate, must have been a horrible wrench. Ours nearly got hit on a path by a blonde lass who thought she'd drive across it to get to a car park. Only a metre away from me. I was so angry I literally couldn't remember any words except "fuck" to shout at her. Must have sounded like an idiot. Strange thing was, my instant reaction was to put myself between the car and the dog. Hers was then to hit the brakes. Disaster averted but only just.

Hmmm... Not too sure about that

Certainly was, he was my little mate, don't know what made him run back across the road, he'd never leave my side when walking, like I said I had him ten years and never thought I needed a lead, never go without one now, won't take the chance.

How Paddy! like the new haircut mate it's class.

All dogs are what their owners make them. As long as you are prepared to spend time socialising the dog properly with other dogs and people, you wont have a problem.

Terriers are class dogs. Very loving, loyal and obedient. Although they can suffer from the odd bout of selective deafness.
The one the OP is getting should be fine to train as he'll have it from a young age.

Prepare to give it regular daily exercise and cage train it if you need to. They can need a lot of entertaining. So long as it has plenty of toys that will reduce destructive behaviour. Kongs are excellent toys for this.
