Fastest ever? Randy Moss. A freak of nature. 6'4" and a 4.2 second forty yard dash.
Just having a bit of fun but this question is always interesting to me. Who was/is the fastest ever in top-flight English football? And how would anyone know for sure? Are there unbiased recorded sprint times out there somewhere? When a player signs for a club does the club have the player workout for them along with the standard physical? Running sprints, doing agility exercises, etc?
In the U.S., all of those physical measurements - speed, power, vertical jumping ability, etc. - are recorded, re-recorded and dissected to the enth degree. Basically, our American Football teams know exactly how fast a player is and how they stack up against other players.
I heard that he is the fastest ever running in a match with ball at feet I don't think it was that long ago eitherFletcher when they call last orders!
Seriously though I would go with Arjen Robben as the fastest @ 37km/hr
Arjen Robben got to be up there
Wasn't that those shitty cheap Dunlop sandie's?Tommy Lynch.
He was even nicknamed "The Sprinter" or sometimes "The Orange Flash".

10.9. Fast by 1970's footballer standards but nowhere near Olympic qualifying which would have been low 10secs in the 70's.Supermac always used to piss the sprint on superstars. Didn't he do an Olympic qualifying time ?
